You can't call yourself a true brony if you don't have an at least rudimentary knowledge of what happened before Lauren Faust created Friendship is Magic.
So I watched the very first MLP special, "Rescue from Midnight Castle", and I was pleasantly surprised. Typical 80's animation of course, but the story was rather grimdark and not overly girly. And it had this human famer girl, Megan, whom I fell in love with immediately.
You don't meet a gorgeous tomboy toon blonde every day who wears tight jeans as a bonus...
Ah well, quick sketch, made for a /co/ thread.

I watched this a few weeks ago--I'd never given G1 much thought (having grown up on G2 and being too old for G3/3.5 ..or so I believed) but damn...the old show really had a lot of heart. It was cute...but different cute, and I looooooved the animation.

Not a huge fan of the G1 toy line (but again, grew up with G2) but I LOVE this show.

That is a very pretty picture. I was never a fan of the show she was on, but she was an interesting character. I guess the only issue I have is with that shirt. It's cute enough, but not practical, if for no other reason than that it can't handle the one thing that both stables and farms are well known for, dirt.

Ah, Megan, Savior Of Worlds. The character who showed us, even before Sailor Moon, that you could be the girliest girl who ever girled and ALSO be a total badass world-saving heroine.

Seeing the movie is still on my to-watch list but I've seen a few bits and pieces, so I know there's some more serious business than all of the cute hair brushing.

Her abilities notwithstanding, I can see other reasons why the pegasus was anxious to snatch her up to help. Megan is a lovely young woman with a shapely body that's been sculpted by hard work without becoming stocky. I love the extra detailing you put into her face to match that level of detail in the movie itself: the fuller lips, cute little nose, and bigger expressive eyes. Of course having long lovely hair is a great plus, and wearing the big bow reminds us that she's still young.

If I had to guess, it looks like she was on her way to or from doing chores and is starting up into the sky to see if her winged friend will stop by for a visit. Meanwhile there are probably some farm boys (and girls) just over the ridge staring down at her and hoping to visit too.
